Lisa, I don't think that it was a tax hike, it was a rate hike. Hashimoto is talking a
rate hike to help support the yen.

you are right
as I was reading your post I was thinking about what you said about tax cuts
and disassociated and put in tax hike instead of rate hike

but I still posit that this is not something that a policitican would do here in the US before an election and I wonder how the Japanese culture views that kind of thing
