I thought the application for the patent was already filed by the person that came up with the formula in the first place? That's what's been said in the past,was it not? Patent was pending??

As I understand patent filing procedures once that has been done you have to wait until the application is approved and a number is assigned before the patent legally belongs to the applicant. After that the patent can be assigned to who ever.

Have I been misinformed??
