John, thank you for your reply to my note. You sound as though you have quite a lot of knowledge regarding the appeal process. Are you an attorney? My information came from the November issue of 'The Cheap Investor' in which they comment, 'The oral arguments for GE's appeal took less than an hour on October 8 and now we wait for the judges' decision. In our opinion, the speedy oral arguments indicate they were in Fonar's favor. We think the judges would have asked Fonar many more questions (taking testimony for perhaps a day or two) if they thought GE's appeal had merit.' He goes on to say, 'Since GE lost the jury verdict, then the judge upheld $68 million in awards to Fonar, and GE had to put up a $90 million bond, we don't think GE has much of a chance.'

I would appreciate your input on their analysis. I had no idea that appellate courts restrict arguments on the basis of time. In this particular case, the arguments involve very complex issues surrounding patent infringement and it would seem as though there should be more latitude given to the defendants to argue their case than some very structured and rigid time line like one hour.
