Re: World Cup.

It takes poise to move through the rounds in the WC.

Nope, it takes goals... Ask Chile, USA, England, Paraguay, Spain, and the Geriatric Germans...

Brazil, France, and Nigeria have looked strong.

Agreed, add Argentina, Romania, Italy, and maybe Holland...

France and Brazil have had opponents that are not so strong
defensively. The Denmark game will be a test for France.

The Danes will be a "walk in the park" for the French.

Brazil is getting stronger. (Might repeat as Champions)

Germany and Italy are both teams that always start slow.
Both teams are not as strong as in past years.

Nope, Italy could be dangerous simply because they are very good in the defense, but no more....
The Germans, sorry, but the invalids are going to need wheelchairs, dentures, and it seems that the seniles are in the beginning stages of Alzheimer...

Only six countries have won the WC. With relative parity this
year, there is an outside chance for a surprise.

Indeed, well said, the best cup ever in terms of team parity.

I hope a game as good as the Italy 4 x 3 W. Germany semi-final in Mexico (1970) is in store, the best game in the history of soccer

The USA should be proud for the way they played last game.
They deserved, at least, a tie. Hopefully, they have some
momentum in the Yugoslavia game.

Well, Pride does not win soccer games, winning attitude and goals do.

Potentially this was the best team the USA has ever presented.... however, the head trainer is officially designated as the Head Moron... Sampson has wasted the best talent and allowed the team to play like mice (Vs Germany), and incapable (Vs Iran.)

However, I must congratulate both teams (USA and Iran), as they played with their heart, with passion and in excellent sportsmanship, contrary to what some idiots in the press/media had suggested.

Leave the crap to the politicians, they are experts at it.

"Dominating" is not enough to win, you have to score. I do not know why they did not retain Bora Milutinovich as head Trainer, the Head Moron (Sampson), is best suited to "impart lessons" in night school to bureaucrats, bishops, and politicians at a third rate University (maybe in Bolivia).

As for the Yugoslavia game, they must go out and play as I know they are capable of, starting with one single and easy instruction:

"Forget what the Head Moron told you"

Of course we must hope (terrible word), that the HM puts out the proper players in the field that will help Coby Jones actually score, and take the terrible defender that allowed the first goal against the Germans (for a start)... Lalas may give stability to the defense, and that player that recently joined..... He should have gone to France (the team I mean), instead.

What is your opinion of all the yellow/red cards... dives and
acting?

For the most part, (with some exemptions) the cards have been helpful and have done two things:

1. Made the game cleaner (or force it to be), and more disciplined play.

2. Improve on the Oscar Performances, (although plenty of nominations still abound), the acting has not been near as bad as in prior tournaments.

Again, in general have been beneficial, but refereeing has never been an easy task, only today they robbed Cameroon of their (very possibly), victory goal Vs Chile, it cost them their qualification too.

Anyway... if you like the WC, may be you would be interested in:
