CNBC had one of their "experts" on again today in their stockpicking segment. When a caller asked about Novell (apparently catching him by surprise, since they usually have their notes reviewed in advance), he said he wasn't close to the stock, but that it was very risky in view of Microsoft's strength and that MSFT had been taking away its market. Then he showed his ignorance by saying there were no new developments in NOVL technology. All in all, pretty damning for the general interest viewer who thinks he's listening to an informed source. I didn't catch which house he was representing, but where do they get these guys? An uninformed professional would simply acknowledge that he was uninformed and let it go rather than lumping a two-year-old perception with some hazy generalities and making a judgment call.
