Rick,
Just logged on and read your messages. Too much work and not enough time to follow my stocks :) As for the mining season there, any type of mine, open pit or underground would be able to operate all year long. There are already a few mines in the Yukon operating all year. Winter makes it tough, but not impossible. Also, most mines operate 24 hours per day, again darkness makes things harder, but you manage. I work in a mine in northern BC, pretty much the same climate as where the Wolverine project is.
Regarding processing on site or shipping the ore, if the tonnage is large enough processing facilities can be built. I don't know if there are any facilities nearby, but if there is, shipping the ore could be an option. A typical number for recovery rates would be 80%, for both mining and milling. They can range from 75-95%. You can't tell without knowing more about geology and metallurgy of the property.
I can't remember if the press releases mentioned a feasibility study or not, but they did say that the deposit is still open in a few directions. More drilling should prove up more tonnage.
Westmin is a likely suitor for a takeover, but like you said, they are short on cash right now after taking over Gibraltar. They could try to increase their position in the project or take it over completely.
Everything I've heard calls for a rally in resource stocks in an aging bull market, that would certainly help. I see the TSE broke 6000 yesterday, maybe this bull is only middle age :) |
