Wingate is a great solution for small offices. the webramp is a more reliable solution but lacking some features. cost wise wingate wins hands down. As long as your mac software runs on TCPIP and supports proxy and/or socks v4/5 you will be happy with either solution...
personally I would use wingate or winproxy with two clients for home use. Why? cost. for more users and business use I think the router is a better solution because of increased robustness. I have personally implimented both for my clients BTW.
