Makes me think of the time I drank from the beer can with the ashes on it.

When Kirsten was about 3, a ruby-throated hummingbird built a nest about 18" from one of the windows in our house. She (I think it was a she) labored for 2 full days making this pouch-like contraption, and then laid 3 eggs in it. Kirsten and I watched the whole thing from start to finish.

There is a spot in Angeles National Forest, Mt. Wilson, where the rangers have set up about 100 feeders. You can see at least 3 different kinds of hummingbirds, hundreds at one time. I never studied them much, but the one I recall Kirsten liked the best was all gold, like a pure gold bird.
