Because a watch cannot combine machined elements to fall into place -- you are trying to draw the analogy of god as the universe-watchmaker. But it doesn't fly because matter/energy does not necessarily need an intelligent force behind it to evolve into what we see today. It COULD have an intelligent force behind it, but it is not mandatory to the equation. (That's a nice word, "evolve", isn't it? Yes, the universe evolves, just as life evolves, just as animals evolve and human animals evolve and Lo! we have here EVOLUTION!) FT
