IBM Aims NCs at Travel Industry

"IBM says it will also offer touch-screen capabilities for its Network Stations, a feature hotels need for kiosk stands, by year's end. Additional planned improvements to the systems will include E-mail capability using an eSuite Internet browser; access to Windows NT servers using the ICA protocol; local booting via flash memory; and an expansion to four serial ports. "
..."Dataquest says the NC market fell well below its expectations last year, with 144,040 systems shipped; it predicts that 480,000 units will ship this year. "We haven't sold as many NCs as we'd like to," admits Howie Hunger, director of channels and marketing for IBM's NC division. But IBM says its goal is to sell several hundred thousand Network Stations this year, compared with fewer than 100,000 systems sold last year. "

Windows NT Terminal Server Edition Version 4.0

Microsoft's updated Windows NT operating system, with new remote
terminal session functions, leaves little reason to purchase generic NT
Server. Terminal Server gives NT a solid footing as a platform to support
dumb terminals, and companies that have deployed Citrix's WinFrame will
want to upgrade to get NT 4.0 software compatibility.
