>>>without telling people the fact that RMBS chips will possibly be used for desktop PC's by late 1999, or early 2000. That's over one and half years away at the earliest. By that time, lots of competitive products will be flooded in the market already.<<<

Gary-

As a lurker on the thread, I usually don't say much. I couldn't resist with you.

1) The PC market is not shrinking. I remember just a few years back when Intel was selling ~20 Mil processors a year. Now I believe Intel is pushing the 100 million mark, if not now within the next few years. And the market has barely tapped India & China! China alone has 1/6 of the world's population!

2) Every one of those PCs need a chipset. And there only a half a dozen sizable chipset vendors that I know of. Intel, the biggest, is publicly endorsing RMBS! So when two of the largest PC OEMs also publicly endorse an Intel chipset using RMBS technology, it's a good sign for RMBS. Further, I haven't heard a peep from any other company regarding alternative memory interface designs in their chipsest.

3) Don't even try to confuse things by saying that PCs will take until early 2000 to have RMBS technology. Mid '99 is when Intel plans to announce their chipset (see numerous past posts). Remember that the OEMs have to buy a bunch of RAM quite a bit in advance to be ready for this type of schedule.
