It all depends on how big a problem the performance issue will be for the Oracle approach. If its a big problem, how do you solve it?

IMO, the datablade quality issue is solvable by Informix testing and certifying datablades themselves. As long as users are educated in that they should only use datablades that are certified, what is the big deal?
