We have had a few forward looking analysts lift their recommendations on the semis already. I don't expect the market to really turn until after the earnings announcements have started to come in. If the announcements are not that crappy and companies give any indication that the end of this year and next will likely improve, then we should see a return to the semis. By the second half of 1999, maybe sooner, the semis should be in a bull market with more favorable underlying supply/demand conditions. Now is a good time to invest in semis because we are due for a move up despite the immediate downturn in earnings - the fundamentals and multiples look good.

Wish I had sold short on the sector back in April when euphoria was rampant. Semi stocks are manic-depressive schizophrenic (or is it that the investors in semis?).
