"Today we have 50 satellites in our backlog, so we have a lot of work to do," Thompson said at a news conference yesterday.

Excerpts from the Washington Post.

.....Also planned is a large, state-of-the-art satellite factory that will be the first of its kind on the East Coast, company officials said.

"There are only a few comparable facilities in the world," Orbital spokesman Barron Beneski said. "Most of the satellite manufacturing today is done in California and Arizona. This really puts Virginia and Loudoun County on the map.",,,

David W. Thompson, Orbital's chief executive, said the company, which now employs 550 at its headquarters, needs to expand its facilities to keep up with its rapid growth.
