Injection molding contracts with Microsoft

Comptec Industries' subsidiary Comptec International of Surrey, B.C., which
is Comptec's injection molding company, has entered into an agreement to
supply Microsoft Corp. of Redmond, Washington, with injection molded
plastic components for its hardware manufacturing services group.
This business was awarded following a successful technology and process
development program by Comptec for Microsoft, and the company is investing
into a clean-room manufacturing environment and specialized equipment to
support the program at its plant in Surrey, B.C. Production start-up is
scheduled for July 1998, with value to the company estimated at $13-million
gross over a three year period.
The technological capabilities that Comptec International has also
developed in decorated back-lit plastic dashboard components for the auto
industry has generated new business for the Neon Chrysler model and the
Freightliner tractor unit. The new tooling and sales contracts for both the
Neon and Freightliner programs approximate $4-million gross to the company
over an eight year period.
