Chip-Level Channel-Bonded Modem Doubles Frame Speed, Enables Real-Time Motion Videophones

ROCKLEDGE, Fla., June 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Transend Corporation today announced a significant advance in videophone technology that permits up to double the number of frames per second over POTS (plain old telephone service) lines compared to currently marketed videophones. Based on the company's state-of-the-art Gemini 112K modem, Transend's chip-level channel bonding technology provides the vehicle for full motion video and enhanced audio/visual synchronization over standard phone lines eliminating the major stumbling block to broad deployment and consumer sales of videophones.

"This technology significantly raises the bar for the videophone industry by finally providing consumers with the real time motion and greater picture quality they have been waiting for," says Tom Bradford, president of Transend. "For the millions of consumers who have not been satisfied with current videophone products because of strobe-like picture quality, our solution will increase awareness of videophone technology, driving demand and boosting sales for the industry."
