David, I strongly believe that the strategic relationships BLD has managed to put in place are in part a result of the company's relative independence and the fact BLD does not represent a competitive threat of any sort in the end products of their partners. If you throw a big company like GE in there, with all it's conflicting relationships as well, you risk upsetting a delicate balance between partners.

Consider this, would Daimler ultimately feel comfortable having GE running the show? Would Ford? After all of the joint research and money they have put into their partnerships? Would GPU, GEC Alsthom et al want GE running the show at BLD? I somehow doubt it.

My guess is that Daimler wouldn't let anyone take the company without a fight.
