Cardin, I am waiting to see if National, AMD and Integrated Devices offer the DRAM cos. a chance to sell an alterative to Rambus. That could really touch off a war.
But the real question is, spectacular performance for what? PCs, espeecially the fastest growing segment, those used in networks, are still mainly typewriters, calculators, and toys. You can't go any faster on word processing than you can type. My spread sheets pop up so fast now I can't imagine much improvement. The toy bit, yeah, but most businesses will not pay up so their employees can play games better. Home gamers will overpay for anything that is "cool." After that, we are basically talking engineering applications, and there just aren't enough engineers to have much impact on overall pc sales. But we'll see. Some things sell in the pc business just because they are new.
