Did you see the new computers from Toshiba, Sony, and Acer, and even IBM (Acer makes their computers now). They are really nice and better priced then Compaq. And as these new machines spread across the land, they are going to definitely take away market share, and undermine profits of other companies. As computer stores, like CompUSA, proliferate, there going to take away market share from the direct sellers Dell and GATE, because many people won't buy mail-order no matter what.
