AB, many of the more knowledgable people on this thread(compared to me, anyway) would argue that buying puts is a much more intelligent, less risky, route. Shorting the stock opens you up to the risk of a runup, possibly huge losses, whereas with buying puts you have the risk of them expiring worthless. I guess you could short the stock and buy an out-of the money call to protect you from a runup. Personally, I'm in the midst of changing brokers, so I'm waiting until I can buy puts and possibly calls. There are a lot of experienced people on this thread and Michael Burke's thread that love to give their opinion (one person that really loves to give his opinion is Steve Covin).Good luck.
