Real 3D Announces Price Reductions On Entire Family of StarFighter Graphics Boards
Real 3D StarFighter PCI Board Now Shipping to Distributors
ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 24, 1998--Real 3D today announced it has cut the prices on its award-winning StarFighter family of graphics accelerator boards.
The company also announced the StarFighter PCI board, the industry's only Intel740-based peripheral component interface (PCI) graphics board, is now shipping to distributors.
Manufacturer's suggested list price for the REAL 3D StarFighter AGP 4MB board is now U.S. $85.00 while the list price for the REAL 3D StarFighter AGP 8MB board is U.S. $109.00. The StarFighter AGP 8MB board with video in/out and a DVD daughter card will be available in early July and carry a list price of U.S. $259.00.
Prices for the retail versions, which come with a large software and game bundle including titles such as Wing Commander: Prophecy, Daytona USA Deluxe, and trueSpace SE, will be slightly higher.
''There are a lot of 2D/3D graphics boards on the market right now, including a good number using the Intel740 chipset that we co-developed,'' said Joe Mazzarella, vice president of sales and marketing at Real 3D.
''What we've done is price the StarFighter at or below competitive 2D/3D boards. The difference is, the StarFighter's the best of the bunch. And consumers don't have to take our word for it. We urge everyone to look at the magazine and Web reviews of the StarFighter. The conclusion we're hoping people make is why not buy the best when prices are about the same.''
Real 3D StarFighter PCI
The REAL 3D StarFighter PCI boards are specifically designed as the ideal upgrade board for users of Pentium, Pentium Pro, and Pentium II systems. Real 3D designed a custom bridge chip that interfaces to the Intel740 graphics chip and enables the StarFighter PCI to deliver ''AGP performance on a board.''
Manufacturer's suggested list for the REAL 3D StarFighter PCI 12MB board is now U.S. $199.00, the StarFighter PCI 16MB board is U.S. $239.00 and the StarFighter PCI 24MB board is U.S. $279.00. The StarFighter PCI 16MB board is also available in a version with video in/out and carries a list price of $289.00.
Retail versions of the StarFighter PCI board, which include the software and game bundle, will be slightly higher.
