Paul,
Re -- The merger won't take affect for about 90 days. Therefore, no integration(beyond current partnership-type projects) will be going on for analysts to assess.

Analysts always look beyond current Q results into the future. Markets are forward looking.

Analysts will quiz, to flush out further details on the merger (e.g Mr Roth mentioned that Mr House would be responsible for data/IP and integration -- what that means will need to be clarified, as well as the function of Bay as a subsidiary, how they plan on handling culture issues etc..)

Re -- Earnings...

You seem to place a "make or break" emphasis on earnings. IMO they are less relevant missing/exceeding estimates by a little will be irrelevant 2 wks past the result date. Disastourous results on the other hand could have an impact.
