I think that the term "operating system" is simply a poorly defined term and should simply be dropped from the lexicon. Microsoft is right to not allow anyone to pin down what the term means. I think the DOJ would be better off to concentrate on things like the interfaces between Microsoft products and developers (the API's), or between Microsoft products and users (the screen you see when you turn on the computer, the functionality that you use when you click buttons, etc..)
