A Lurker chimes in! Your question goes to the heart of this
discussion. Maxwell did have an interesting post, but I suspect those
who consider us Intel investors to be "idiots" are inclined to
underestimate Intel's manufacturing capabilities. Simply because it's
not their strongest competitive edge doesn't mean they're not pretty
good at manufacturing. A certain "mr. e" could probably offer some
worthwhile perspective on your concern, but if you go back and read
some of his earlier posts on this thread you may garner the gist of
his point of view. For example, he has noted AMD's checkered history
and consequent erratic stock performance as opposed to Intel's
sustained track record of success. Unfortunately "mr. e" may have
had enough abuse from some contributors to this thread and be
reluctant to offer his insight, but if you bat your blue(?) eyes at
him he may give you the benefit of his analysis. While "mr. e" can be a
bit excessive (really Paul- in an age of ozone depletion, you need two
Caddies?- they're of marginal design anyway), and can give as good as
he gets, I've never seen him descend into the scatological gutter of
some others on this and similar threads.

For what it's worth, I suspect AMD's CEO realizes that misleading
investors is not in the long term interests of his company and that
for a change he is not hyping AMD's prospects.
