It would be a mistake for ORCL to acquire NSCP or AAPL. I have no idea what ORCL by acquisition of these companies other than additional problems emanated by MSFT's dominance. The key to ORCL's success along these lines is Java, not a browser, not a competing desktop OS, not a PC box maker.

Do they have the cash or leverage to purchase said company?

ORCL has a market cap of roughly $25B. It earned roughly $750MM last year. MANU has a market cap of about $625MM. I'll leave it to you to re-assess the plausibility of your question.

The issue to wrestle with is whether the projected cash flow to be realized from an acquistion will offset its purchase price, together weighed against the alternative of ORCL developing its own app business?
