When I create a composite in MS Downloader (ie Primary !NQ-A less Secondary !NQ-D), MS Downloader is assigning a "SYMBOL" that is the same as the "PRIMARY" used to create the composite (in the above example the COMPOSITE symbol would be !NQ-A).

I've found the same thing. (It appears we're creating the same composites.) However, if you right click on the symbol in your Metastock directory (from the Metastock window "Open"), and then click on properties, you'll find a different name under General. If I forget which composite symbol is which (the order in the list doesn't change, so I can usually tell), I click on properties. This isn't exactly convenient, but it helps (somewhat).

For some reason, all of the composite symbols in my index directory update, though they don't in yours. In the MS Downloader New Composite Window, have you given your composites different names in the Name field, so that the names under Properties are different?
