Notice I said a merger, not an acquisition. ORCL would actually do quite well by combining with one or both of these companies...I think. It would expand their scope - something they desperately need, IMHO. AAPL is becoming remarkably profitable, and will continue to do so, and is well positioned for the NC marketplace. Netscape - well, I don't know why I tossed them in there, but I think they are still a viable competitor - and they are more than a browser company.... As for purchasing MANU - I don't know who or what they are. But earning $750mm last year and having that money available in ready cash are not the same thing. Could be that some of that money was used for other purposes...I need to see a balance sheet to see how much ready cash they have available. As for the intelligence of a MANU purchase - as I said, I don't know the company...so I won't comment.
