Jim, in your first article dated Nov.20th, they said "According to Ameritech, despite the fact that at least 80 per cent of
businesses and residences in highly populated areas of the US fall
within these thresholds, much of the wiring is old, cracked and wet.
While the copper local loop was designed to support an audio
bandwidth of about 6KHz, ADSL makes use of the full radio
spectrum up to 1.1MHz."

According to a survey of rbocs who had intentions of utilizing
adsl technology for either data or vod transmisssion in Communications
Week appx. two months ago, they said that anywhere from " 40-80%
of their lines would be able to transmit adsl effectively at near
maximum i/o transmission. I don't remember if Ameritech responded to
the survey at that time but maybe they were the one who came in
at the 40% calculation. The rbocs with the higher percentage estimates
will obviously be better able to utilize the adsl modems on a more
cost effective basis.

Thought I would clear this up before what's their name(s)
puts in their two cents.

Later,
