I absolutely agree that we are going to see some big mergers shortly. Qwest could be taken out anytime now. I've heard two names that may buy Qwest. The first is British Telecom who will have a boat load of cash after the MCIC deal gets done. They still have a strong interest in getting into the US market. Qwest has a nice national network and a real marketing arm now with the LCI acquisition. Qwest also has these alliances with the RBOCs which gives British Telecom access into the local markets. British Telecom is searching for growth and Qwest can provide it. The second acquiror I've heard is Bell Atlantic. They are the most logical of the RBOCs who are itching to get into the l.d. market. The price for QWST could be high, maybe $50 plus given Anshutz's large stake. Previous to the AT&T/TCI announcement I thought it might take awhile. Now, I think it bould happen very shortly. Let's hope so.
