From CNNfn Interview:
DEFTERIOS: Dwight, we know that, in fact, in the last year, there's been a huge rally in cable stocks; the same thing has happened for the telecom equipment providers. I'm thinking of Lucent Technologies Incorporated (LU), NorTel (NT), and Cisco (CSCO) -- they're all involved in that. Do you think, in fact, that these are highly priced right now, going forward? What do you think is going to happen to this sector? Is this an area that's just going to continue growing and the rallies we've seen in the last year really don't matter?
ALLEN: Well, I think that what we're seeing is that the thinking is coming into focus that we're into a whole new game, rather than simply providing phone service and separately -- local and long-distance at that. Not only are we now coming to the day when we will be able to buy those two things joined together, but also a whole suite, a whole portfolio of products, and using the Internet as the means of getting access. And so, you have this vision of a new day dawning and this hits the consumer market, as well as business. And so you have all sorts of video and audio and information and transactional kinds of offerings. This creates excitement with respect to everybody up and down the line: those who have the connection into the home; those who are making the equipment; those who provide the long haul; and those who provide the content.
