John,
Good post! I have to go somewhere's in a little while, so I'll listen in on the cc sometime later. I read the earnings report, and it seems to show enough so that PR would have to really do something dumb to screw up the cc...but I'm paranoid, so you never know...
>>...If not for the poison pill they probably would have been gone already. After todays numbers any company could justify the fight to their shareholders. IMO that would not be good for COMS long term holders,,, but we traders would smile.<<
I'm not sure I understand. I think you're saying that for long term shareholders it would be better to want a takeover? Am I correct?
My opinion is that I hope not, because they have a good chance of doing well in the future...heck, it even looks like profit margins went up, which I thought would be too early still, and this is a big beef with a lot of ANALysts.
But, COMS has covered itself extremely well as far as fitting into the telecom movement of the future:
1) They're are leaders in the voice/data convergence.
2) They have very strong ties with SIEMENS so they'll be able to participate in the telecom data network movement.
3) Their emphasis on the telecom-data growth is very strong in the desktop area. For ex. videoconferencing on Lans, Intranets, etc. IMO, they're miles ahead of everybody on this. That's one of their prime niches (imo). But, we're probably 'too early' for this part of the future to make a solid dent in earnings. That's why we need x2 Modems, NICs, etc. to prop the company for a while ('98).
Let me know what you get out of the cc...
