Hi Paul,

It seems that what is important about BAY (and everything else) is how it will be doing in 1999 and beyond. Why do we (or the analysts) care about this quarter except to the extent it tells us something about where BAY will be in 1999 and beyond?

I bring this up because it seems to make little sense that BAY (or any equity) should go up or down significantly as a consequence of a quaterly earnings differing by a few cents from estimates. In the case of BAY, IMHO, the concern about the current quarter seems to make even less sense since the BAY share price has a built in assumption that BAY's earnings will in the not too distant future increase by an amount that is large in comparison to current earnings.

FWIW.

Henry
