Pat,

Thanks for the interesting link. Even remotely favorable news is encouraging at this point. SNDK trading volume has been consistently high for the past week without any further drastic declines in share price. Seems that people get hot and cold on the stock with the investor base changing hands quite frequently based on the float of 6 million shares. Last week's tragedy may have lead to some institutional selling as well. Seems like there is always new people finding out about SNDK and investing.

The future of MMC and CF in the smart phone and PDA market is still developing and it is difficult to quantitate its effect on earnings for 1999. Concentrating on the digital film market, I think that the next two weeks will be critical if there is an out of court settlement with Lexar. A co-licensing agreement whereby Lexar pays SNDK for the disk drive emulation technology and SNDK acknowledges Lexar's advances in controller software could happen as mentioned by others. That way SNDK could recoup the royalties from CF while making a conscious decision to compete or not compete with Lexar for the digital film market with enhanced controller features. If they decide not to go head-to-head on the CF front they could just live off royalties. If SNDK is not successful in the litigation we face a great deal of uncertainty.

Certainly my confidence in SNDK has been shaken lately. However, I really don't think SNDK is a one trick pony. Perhaps a two or three trick pony is more accurate (embedded flash, CF and MMC). I have followed some of the disparaging posts both here and on the Yahoo! threads and the Sunbeam comparison is laughable. I also don't think we can directly apply earnings projections the way one does with more mature growth companies, not that earnings are unimportant. This stock has a lot of unknowns and a lot of uncertainty in the near term with critical events facing its investors in the foreseeable future. It will test our patience.

If anyone has any technical expertise regarding the contested patents with Lexar it would be helpful.
