RE:DSL and 3Com

I would sign up for it. It will be available to all phone customers in my area from GTE this fall. For a moderate increase of price over 56K modem connection, you will get many times more of the speed (multi-megabit) with permanent connection while still being able to use the same phone line for usual purposes (save your cost for a second phone line). Big advantage. Why not?

DSL:http://www.3com.com/xdsl/index.html
This is what 3com site says about it:
A quantum leap in bandwidth is coming to homes and small offices: welcome to the era of the Digital Subscriber Line, or DSL. DSL's promise is multi-megabit access with eliminated dial-up time; it's a technology with the potential for vast change in business and society.

Now, from 3Com, a new family of DSL capabilities is coming. 3Com approached the solution for DSL with some key requirements:

Affordable: For a mass market to develop, DSL should cost little more than an analog modem.
Futureproof. It's early in the life of DSL, and industry standards can change. However they do, equipment should be upgradeable to stay current.
