irresponsible internet article of the month

Here is my entry:

fnews.yahoo.com

Here Harmon points out that on a straightforward calculation Disney appears to have gotten its share of SEEK at a big discount to the market.

He then goes on to claim that the combined company should really be
worth 1.7 Billion with no quantitative analysis, this coming
seemingly out of the blue.

He then claims that this values SEEK at over $50/share. It seems he forgot to add the 25.8 Million shares that Disney received.

When one combines bad premises with invalid inferences (arithmetic
errors no less) one creates a mess so outrageous that to argue
against it puts one in the same position as those who said that the
emperor had no clothes. Perhaps financial authors should have their
articles vetted by sixth graders!

Later,
Joe
