It is this pedestrian view of equity markets that has fueled the rise of so many speculative stocks that are based on "future valuations".

The future is unpredictable. A typhoon could descend on AMZN's commerce servers tomorrow and obliterate everything. Yet, that type of future, or any type of downside, is never taken into account.

On a tangent, did anyone else hear about the IBM partnership that would allow consumers to print their own books? Some sort of service where out of print books would be published in print runs of one for a single consumer. Bookstores would only display the jackets of books and prints would only be done to order. Sort of like the DELL of the publishing world...
