<<< All in all, it was very impressive, and I think Microsoft

beat expectations>>>

Above post regarding the 200 customers lined up for the CompUSA release of Win 98 at midnite.

Microsoft is a master of managing the street, orchestrating the event, no surprises, always exceeds the expectation. Let's hope the rulers of the TDFX realm can deliver astounding sales results this quarter. With the quantities of V2's moving thru retail, I think they surpassed sales forecasts earlier this month and are headed for another blowout quarter.

Sidenote to share buybacks, believe CY (Cypress Semi) actively trades their stock against a valuation model based on a share price to sales ratio, quite a writeup in their annual report, generates quite a profit for them. (Hmmm... didn't seem to help their share price though, tough to be a commodity player these days, like TRID or ALSC, or SIII). It would take some of the volatility out of the price moves though.

I'd rather see TDFX partner with CPQ or HP or Sony in developing a point-of-sale ultimate gaming computer for EVERY CompUSA, Best Buy, Fry's, etc with every Glide optimized game featured on it, plus 3D sound, etc. A real screamer would sell lots of cards, lots of games, add some excitement to the stores. What think ?
