Hi Dan,
This Psalm is clearly an encouragement to the wise with a promise of prosperity from God for those who choose to hear and obey. Praying for the peace of Jerusalem also speeds the return of the Messiah for scriptures say there will be no peace until He returns. What allot of promise and beauty in that simple verse. Why is it when people are encouraged to pray for Jerusalem they always add the rest of the world as though there is something wrong with praying for them? If you asked me to pray for the Sudan I would do it without having to add that I will also pray for the rest of the world as though they did not deserve the prayers on there own. Do you think it might be because it is in Gods word that singles out Jerusalem, that causes the problem? Like I said to have peace there will require the Prince of Peace to reign there and that is praying for the peace of the whole world.
In His Presence there is fullness of joy,
Nancy
