3Com sees Q4 as turning point Reuters - 06:51 a.m. Jun 25, 1998 Eastern NEW YORK (Reuters) - Computer network equipment maker 3Com Corp. reported that fiscal fourth-quarter earnings rose 52 percent, edging ahead of expectations, and executives declared the quarter a ''turning point'' after a difficult year. Benhamou said 3Com, which sells modems to both consumers and Internet service providers, has now begun to see the market for these products achieve critical mass and expects its growth to accelerate by the end of the calendar year. While Benhamou said it might take several quarters to hit its goal of 20 percent sales growth each quarter, he pointed to several new areas where sales are multiplying several times faster than those of the company as a whole.
