Thursday June 25, 10:18 am Eastern Time Company Press Release Solpower Acquires North American Rights to SP34E an Ozone Safe, Drop-In Replacement Refrigerant Gas First Year Sales Estimated in Excess of $400 Million PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 25, 1998--Management is pleased to announce that it has acquired the exclusive North American sales, distribution, marketing and manufacturing rights for SP34E in consideration for the issuance of 6,000,000 common shares of the Company and payment of a royalty of US$2.25 per kilogram of SP34E sold. Based on a contract currently in discussion the North American sales of SP34E in the first year are estimated to be in excess of US$400 million. As a direct drop-in replacement refrigerant gas for R-12 and R-134a testing and use of SP34E have shown that it: -- will not damage ozone layer -- is an exact replacement for R-12 refrigerants -- requires no system modifications -- is characteristic of a near azeotrope refrigerants -- requires no special handling equipment -- is compatible with mineral oils and PAG/POE oils -- is up to 25% more efficient than R-134a with more capacity and lower head pressures -- is compatible for use with all R-12 and R-134a systems -- is safety tested and competitively priced. SP34E is currently being sold in Australia and in Japan where more than 60,000 vehicles and 50,000 other refrigerant equipment users have installed SP34E. The North American automotive air conditioning market alone contains an estimated 100 million vehicles using R-12 that will require service and refrigerant gas replacement during the next five years.
