JUN 24, 1998, M2 Communications - Macromedia today announced that Macromedia Dreamweaver and Macromedia Flash both won Web 98 Tools Awards at the Web Design and Development Conference in San Francisco this week. The Web 98 Tools Award winners are selected by editors from Miller Freeman's Web Techniques and Web Review publications as the best new tools for Web designers and developers.

Macromedia Dreamweaver 1.2 was selected as the best new tool in the Web authoring category over tools including GoLive CyberStudio, Net Objects Fusion and Adobe PageMill. Dreamweaver was chosen based on its unique support for Roundtrip HTML, which enables Web designers to take advantage of visual functions while retaining complete control over HTML source code. Macromedia Flash 3 was selected as the best new tool in the multimedia category over tools including Microsoft Liquid Motion and Boxtop GIFmation. Flash was chosen based on its superior ability to deliver compact, interactive vector-based Web graphics and animation, even over slow modem connections. New features in Flash 3 such as alpha transparency, shape tweening and bandwidth profiling also set Flash apart from the other entries. For more information about Flash 3, visit www.flash.com.

The Web Tools Awards highlight the best new tools in the Web Authoring, Web Database, Java, Site Management, Search and Retrieval, Graphic Design, Multimedia and Web Security categories.
