NORTHBROOK, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 25, 1998--The Children's
Beverage Group Inc. (NASDAQ BB:TCBG), a manufacturer of specialty
children's beverage packaging, announced Thursday that due to
increasing retailer demand for its innovative no-spill, stand-up drink
pouch, that product will be available immediately from their exclusive
Volpak form, fill & seal manufacturing unit located at the Sweet Ripe
Drinks Ltd. facility in Ontario, Canada.
"Our customers, which include the top 10 retailers in America,
want product in their hands immediately," said Jon Darmstadter,
president & CEO of The Children's Beverage Group, "and that's because
our revolutionary, patent pending 'rip it sip it(tm)' drink pouch is
turning out to be a big hit with consumers. To take advantage of this
exciting opportunity, we're launching our production effort early at
the Sweet Ripe facility, beginning with our own BrainForest(tm) spring
water and juice drink brand."
The Children's Beverage Group expects to have three Volpak
machines producing over 30 million units, representing over $5 million
in revenues, by the end of 1998. As previously announced, additional
manufacturing capacity is being expedited at America's largest private
label juice manufacturer, Cliffstar Corp. With new manufacturing units
coming on line in 1999, over 200 million units will be produced,
representing in excess of $30 million in revenues.
The Children's Beverage Group is the exclusive supplier of juice
drink pouches to be included with Winn Dixie's (NYSE:WIN) new
PAK.A.LUNCH(r) product, representing over 8 million units per year.
Also, The Children's Beverage Group and Wal-Mart's Great Value Brand
(NYSE:WMT) are sponsors of the 1998 Indy 500 Winners: Team Cheever.
The Children's Beverage Group is a unique beverage company
