Bobby,

Accurate numbers are a little tough to find on Japanese debt. The most recent I have found is from 1995 when govt debt was about 89.7% of GDP.that works out to about $4 trln. US dabt at the same tome was $4.9 trn which works out @60% of GDP. Since that time Japanese debt has been rising faster than US debt.
