g'day all, dear inside novell - sorry to hear what happened to the friends of your brother. I am sure these ex-employees feel short-changed, real or imaginary. I am no legal expert, and sometimes even judicial systems don't do justice, but it seems that these people you talk about expect loyalty from mgt without giving any in return. I mean, as you put it, the whole team left at the same time for a startup?!
I understand very well this is part of the SV pathos, so I ve no qualm with that. The fact that House & co have negotiated with NT in good faith to ensure there is no massive layoff when and if the merger comsummates, that is loyalty. The fact that House & co elect to dishing out share options to employees, not ex-employees in spite of the street grumpling about share dilution, that is loyalty. The fact that people are attracted by higher pay or vision of startup [ipo] windfall, that is not loyalty [and not disloyalty, I suppose, just opportunistic.]
So, people have to ask themselves: can they have the cake and eat it too?
best, Bosco |
