Richard,

when asked region by region, Morgan said Japan appears to be selectively buying. If the Japanese economy tanks to something closer to a depression vs a recession, I don't think they are going to be ordering anything cap eq next yr.

Morgan also spoke positively about Taiwan, especially forward 3-5 yrs. I think he may be overly optimistic there. Not much attention had been paid to the subject but I suspect that once the Asian economy stabilizes, China is going to be pressing the one China issue again. Taiwanese may then be pre-occupied either "defending" their independence or working out a "merger" plan a la HK.

This may not be bad. HK, while financially savvy, never gave China any high tech stuff. If Taiwan ever unite with China, there may be new fabs popping up all over China.
