Irwin Toy Ltd. - Toronto
1st Quar April 30:
All figures in Canadian dollars

Net income (872,000) 53,000
Shr ern (basic)
Net income (.16) .01
Figures in parentheses are losses.
The company said its results reflect a reduction in sales volume due to
efforts of retailers in the industry to reduce their inventory levels. It said
that due to the seasonal nature of its business, generally the first-quarter
results in any year aren't indicative of the full-year's results.
Irwin said its board also approved a change in the company's dividend
policy, which stipulates that a dividend will be considered on an annual basis
at the end of its fiscal year. It said the change is in recognition of the
seasonal nature of the company's business and allows the board to consider the
appropriate dividend policy in the context of year-end results.
