Poetry, my sweet, is the highest known form of communication. It allows one's consciousness to be experienced by others. It's expression is found in the various artforms such as painting, sculpture, and, yes, writing. The technical manifestations of
these vehicles are of secondary importance (e.g., illiterations,
imagery, ionic pentameters, etc...).
In order to communicate, one must have shared experience, or a
common denominator. In the rational world, this common denominator
is the ULTIMATE TRUTH or REALITY that exists. On only rare occassion, does an individual punch a hole through the miasma (as is found on this thread) and for which allows us (those willing to see) a glimpse into this reality. It is this aspect that gives true poetry it's timeless and universal quality.
