An interesting post on Yahoo.

A round about way of linking Texaco to Orinoco to gas to RNTK. This is from the Venezuela Embassy to the United Kingdom (don't ask!).

Venezuelan Review

Embassy of Venezuela
Vol. 2. No. 5
May 1998

New uses for Orimulsi¢n being explored.
PDVSA said it is studying new uses for its trademark boiler fuel Orimulsi¢n in an effort to boost demand. Bit£menes del Orinoco S.A., a unit of PDVSA, said the company is trying to market gas made from Orimulsi¢n. The resulting gas, made using Texaco Inc. technology, could be used to power electricity generating turbines or to produce fertilisers. Orimulsion's success would let Venezuela unlock the energy potential of its vast bitumen reserves.

====================================================================
My interpretation is that Venezuela can produce Orimulsion so cheap that it is literally giving it away. In fact, they are trying to get Florida to burn it, and are even willing to PAY FOR the extra air pollution control equipment that would need to be installed. As Venezuela tries to find uses for Orimulsion, one option that is apparently already being done is for it to be pumped through a Texaco gasifier. Hence, Texaco has a vast source of dirt cheap fuel which can be gasified. Now if only some little company could invent a method of turning that gas into a useful product.

Orimulsion is a boiler fuel made in Venezuela out of "solid" coal and other products.
