In my laziness I never read Rand, but are she and her chain-smoking (not that that's a bad thing) objectivists worshippers at the altar of copyright law?

The problem is in the licensing/copyright laws. If you're being "pirated" your stuff is too expensive! The pirates are a governor on the excesses of the media monopolists.

If we could change the copyright laws to require a pirate's kickback of 10% or 20% - or even 50% or whatever, to the producers, then the media economy would run like a well-oiled machine, instead of the sick, cancer-infested caricature of commerce that it currently is.
