In most instances, the companies whose products may contain problem chips will be the one to fix them. It is in their financial and legal interest to do so before 2000.

Also, many of these companies (mine for instance) who use imbedded technologies made their products Y2K compliant years ago. This means that the products don't even have to be tested.
